7 Game Winning Streak for Illinois Tech Baseball
A 12-run explosion in the third inning led Illinois Institute of Technology to a 12-6 win over Finlandia University in Chicago, IL on Friday.
Michael Malfeo (JR/Orland Park, IL) got a hit in each of his two at-bats. He singled in the first and third innings, then got a rest for the remainder of game one with a sore leg.
Elliot Chibe (FR/Palos Park, IL) got the win for Illinois Institute of Technology despite allowing six runs over seven innings. He struck out five, walked three and surrendered eight hits.
Josh Vasquez was charged with the loss. He allowed 10 runs in 2 2/3 innings, walked three and struck out none.
The top of the first saw Finlandia University take an early lead, 2-0 on four first inning hits.

Illinois Institute of Technology got the win thanks in large part to Cory's dominant, 12-strikeout performance. Illinois Institute of Technology's pitcher tossed seven innings of shutout ball and allowed only six hits.
Six runs in the first three innings helped Illinois Tech blow out Finlandia University. A two-run double by Michael Malfeo, an RBI double by Brian Colon-Rodriguez(SO/Carolina, PR), a fielder's choice, and a two-run single by Austin Boos(SO/Indianapolis, IN) during the first inning fueled the early offense.
Malfeo racked up three RBIs on four hits for the night cap.
Gerard Taylor ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He allowed six runs in zero innings, walked two and struck out none.
Tech added four more runs in the bottom of the fifth. Boos kicked things off with a single, plating James Tarala (FR/Crown Point, IN).
