James Tarala (FR/Crown Point, IN) tossed a shutout to lift Illinois Institute of Technology to a 5-0 win over Maranatha Baptist Bible College in Watertown, WI.
Hawk Tarala kept Maranatha off the scoreboard for all seven innings. He pitched a shutout, allowing no runs on five hits while striking out nine.
Brian Colon-Rodriguez (SO/Carolina, PR) racked up two RBIs on two hits for Tech. He singled in the first and third innings. Ryan Fitzpatrick (JR/Chicago, IL) also hit safely twice and scored two runs.
Micah Burdett took the loss for Maranatha. He went seven innings, walked four, struck out none, and allowed five runs.
The game's first lead went to IIT thanks to a second inning rally that saw one run cross the plate on a groundout by Tarala helping his own cause at the plate. Then the Hawks added three more runs in the third inning and one final score in the seventh.
