Illinois Tech Scores Early and Often

Chicago, IL - Illinois Institute of Technology continued to pile up the runs on Friday, May 2nd 2014 scoring four runs in the last two innings, on the way to an 11-1 landslide win over Maranatha Baptist University.

Michael Malfeo (JR/Orland Park, IL) racked up three RBIs on two hits for the Hawks. He tripled in the third inning and homered in the seventh inning.

Elliot Chibe (FR/Palos Park, IL) was a workhorse on the hill while bagging the win for Tech. He pitched the complete game eight innings and allowed one earned run, six hits and one walk while striking out three.

Micah Burdett couldn't get it done on the mound for Maranatha Baptist Bible College, taking a loss. He allowed 11 runs in 7 1/3 innings, walked two and struck out one.

IIT stayed on top until the final out after taking the lead in the second, scoring two runs on an RBI single by Bill Cronin (JR/Orland Park, IL).

Illinois Tech posted two runs in each of the third, fifth, seventh, and eighth. In the third, Tech scored on an RBI single by Ryan Fitzpatrick (JR/Chicago, IL), scoring Austin Boos (SO/Indianapolis, IN).

Tech pushed two more runs across in each of the fifth, seventh and eighth. In the fifth, IIT scored on a sacrifice fly by Malfeo, bringing home Boos.

It didn't take long for Illinois Tech to answer again as it scored one more run in the sixth off an RBI single by Boos. Brian Colon-Rodriguez (SO/Carolina, PR) along with Boos finished the day with 3 hits a piece.
