Alex Babusci propels Illinois Tech past Maranatha College, 4-2

Illinois Institute of Technology jumped on Maranatha Baptist College early on its way to a 4-2 win on Saturday in Watertown, WI, scoring three runs in the first inning.

Tech scored in the first on an RBI single by Alex Babusci (JR/Park Ridge, IL), a passed ball, and an RBI double by Sam Pung (SO/Ludington, MI).

Maranatha scored two runs in the fifth off RBI single and double. Despite its efforts, that was the end of the comeback.

Sam Pung racked up two RBIs on two hits for the Hawks.

Andrew Gustafson (JR/Niles, IL) got the win for the visiting Scarlet Hawks. He allowed two runs over six innings. Andrew struck out eight, walked four and gave up four hits.

Adam Courtney ended up on the wrong side of the pitching decision, charged with the loss. He lasted seven innings, walked one, struck out five, and allowed four runs.
