2008 Men's Cross Country

Welcome from Coach Kopinski
I believe that a nationally competitive cross-country program and a world-renowned undergraduate education are not mutually exclusive entities. My coaching philosophy emphasizes the full development of the student athlete at IIT. That is, our athletes grow and achieve success in the classroom and as individuals in addition to competing for the Scarlet Hawks. Our athletes demonstrate hard work and good time management in the classroom and while competing. Nothing else is acceptable. In an effort to continue the full athletic development of our student athletes we have established and grown the IIT track club over the last two years (www.iit.edu/~trac/TRAC/Home.html). The individual results speak for themselves. Our program thus gives the student athlete an opportunity to contribute from the first day they set foot on campus. We want our runners to be a vital part of our team, campus and our culture immediately, not just as juniors and seniors.

Among the conference elite teams, the men's cross country team's recent success includes numerous individual personal records, school records, numerous Academic All-Americans, nine All-Conference runners, five NAIA All-Region runners, three individual National Championship qualifiers, and multiple team titles including:

• 2006 Men Spartan XC Classic Runner-Up
• 2006 Men Carthage Invite Champions
• 2005 Men Lake Forest Invite Champions
• 2005 Men Carthage Invite Champions
• 2004 Men NAIA National Championship (27th)
• 2004 Men NAIA Region VII Champions
• 2004 Men CCAC Conference Champions
• 2003 Men CCAC Conference Runner-Up

I look forward to helping you explore Illinois Tech and become a member of the championship culture that is Scarlet Hawk Men's cross country.
