Before Illinois Tech

In England, Phil represented both Preston North End and Morecombe FC at youth team levels. Phil's outstanding performances at Morecombe helped win him international recognition, in 2004, when he was named to the England Schools U18 squad. In 2005 Phil started his American collegiate soccer career at Loyola College, (Baltimore, MD - NCAA D1), where he played both his freshman and sophomore years; being named to the All Conference teams in both seasons. In 2007 Phil transferred away from Loyola to Illinois Tech where he went on to play another successful season, gaining all Conference recognition for a third straight year.

Playing Style

Phil is a commanding central defender who leads his team from the heart of defence with his fantastic vocal presence. He is strong in the tackle, powerful in the air and is confident in possession of the ball. Phil's favourite position is at the centre of defence, although he can easily slot into either of the two full back positions, or play further forward in a defensive midfield role.
