









Lemont High School senior Rebecca Bograd has made a verbal commitment to play volleyball for head coach Kelly Fitzgerald at the Illinois Institute for Technology (IIT).
Bograd helped head coach Chris Zogata's team to a terrific season in 2008, as the Indians finished with a 30-5 record, including a 10-1 mark and a second-place finish in South Suburban Conference (SSC) play. They won their third straight IHSA Regional crown and finished as the sectional runner-up to eventual Class 3A State Champion Joliet Catholic. Lemont won 88 matches (including a 31-2 mark in conference play), three IHSA Regional titles and two SSC crowns in her three years on the varsity squad.
Bograd became a starter in the 2006 season, in which Lemont posted a 25-12-1 record. She led the team with 622 assists and 81 service aces, while also adding 45 digs and a career-high 49 blocks. She was tabbed with the team's "Best Server" award.
An honorable mention all-area honoree by the Reporter Progress in 2007, she again paced the team with 474 assists and 53 aces and added 104 digs during her team's 33-6 campaign. She repeated as the team's "Best Server" honoree and was an academic all-conference pick as Lemont finished 33-6 and posted a school record for wins in a season.
In 2008, Bograd earned All-SSC Blue Division honors and both 3rd team (Joliet Herald News) and honorable mention (Southtown Star) accolades. Named the team's "Best Server" for a third straight year, she was second on the team with 45 aces and 89 digs, and led the squad with 455 assists.
A high honor roll student, Bograd has played club volleyball for 1st Alliance. In her three-year varsity career, she totaled 1,551 assists, 179 service aces and 238 digs, and led the team in serve attempts each season.
IIT finished the 2008 season with a 19-23 record, including an 8-2 mark in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play and a runner-up finish in the CCAC Tournament.
