Illinois Institute of Technology athletics is happy to announce the addition of Chapin Wehde as Head Athletic Trainer beginning in August 2018. Wehde comes to Illinois Tech with a plethora of experience with both athletic training and sports medicine.
Wehde comes to the Scarlet Hawks after serving as Orthopedic Surgery and Sports Medicine Athletic Trainer Resident at Hinsdale Orthopedic Associates, assisting in various surgical procedures pertaining to athletic injuries while also carrying out clinical care and presenting at several sports medicine conferences. Prior to Hinsdale, Wehde was the Director of Sports Medicine at NCAA Division III Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi. As the department’s head athletic trainer, she developed Millsaps’ first emergency action plans, concussion management policy, hydration recommendations, team physician contracts, and transitioned to an electronic medical records system.
Millsaps is not the only Division III experience Wehde has, as she also been an Assistant Athletic Trainer of two of Illinois Tech’s Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference opponents: Benedictine University and Aurora University. Prior to the NACC stops, Wehde served as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Lincon-Way North High School and was an Athletic Training Intern for the Chicago Bandits professional fastpitch softball team.
Wehde is a graduate of Aurora University, where she received her Bachelors of Science in Athletic training and was a Physiology minor. She also has a Master’s of Science in Rehabilitative Sciences from California University of Pennsylvania.
