Kelly Fitzgerald
Head Coach
Kelly Hendry took the helm of the Scarlet Hawk women's volleyball
program in 2004. In a few short years, the volleyball team has grown to
tremendous heights under her direction. In 2005, the Hawks finished
strong with a 22-19 record and 7th in Region VII with eight nationally
ranked teams on their schedule. Following the campaign, two of her
players received all-conference recognition from the NAIA.
In her first season as head coach, the Scarlet Hawks finished 7-2 in
the conference en route to finishing the season with an overall record
of 31-15. The 2nd-seeded Hawks advanced to the NAIA Region VII
tournament where they shutout William Penn at the Keating Sports Center
before bowing out to Trinity International in the semifinal match.
Hendry came to IIT after gaining experience at various levels of
competition including Bloom Township High School in Chicago Heights,
Illinois. Before moving to Bloom, she served for three years as
assistant coach at now-rival Saint Xavier. Also during this time, she
served as assistant coach to the boy's program at Marist High School in
Chicago where she helped lead the Red Hawks to the IHSA State
Championship in 2002. Hendry has considerable club experience, working
as the head coach of the Celtic Force Volleyball Club.
No stranger to the CCAC, Hendry brings to the Scarlet Hawks a legacy of
success after capping an outstanding playing career at Saint Xavier in
2001. A three-time all-conference performer with the Cougars, Hendry
received CCAC Player of the Year honors during her senior campaign,
NAIA Region VII Player of the Year, and NAIA Third-Team All-American.
She graduated in 2002 from Saint Xavier with a bachelor's degree in
social sciences and completed her master's degree in educational
administration and supervision in 2005.
She currently serves as the Co-CCAC Volleyball Chairwoman.
