Head Coach- 1st Season



In the time Calin Hantau has spent with the Hawks his presence and championship experience has no doubt had an impact. While assisting the 2012 IIT teams women’s cross country earned a 4th place conference finish as well as: three runner of the week award, the overall conference individual champion, the overall conference runner of the year, two Nationals Qualifiers, and a 2012 All American. Also in the 2012 season the women’s cross country team set an all-time program high while being ranked as high as 17th in the 2012 Women's Cross Country Coaches' Top 25 Poll.

Calin graduated from Lewis Clark University in 2008 and went on to earn his Masters while being the graduate assistant at Central Methodist University. While at CMU he coached 4 individual athletes who earned All American status for track and field.

A native of Romania Hantau currently resides in Chicago and has started his coaching duties at IIT this August.

Raul Botezan
Assistant Coach- 1st Season

Raul Botezan is a great addition to Illinois Tech’s coaching staff. His experience as an international runner for Romania will be very useful when the team is facing high pressure situations in competition.  Botezan has been a Romanian national champion at every age group and joined NCAA DI Oklahoma State University in 2009. During his career at Oklahoma State University the team won 3 national championships in cross country. A two-time all American while at OSU, possesses Botezan possesses a 3.57.79 mile personal best which is also the Romanian National record for the indoor mile. 

Botezan was born in 1988 in Cluj-Napoca, Romania and graduated with his masters degree in Business Administration from Oklahoma State University.
