In game 1 Illinois Tech won 7-3 against Finlandia University Sunday, April 6th on Chicago's south side campus. Elliot Chibe (FR/Palos Park, IL) went the distance on the mound spreading out 8 hits while inducing 7 strikeouts with no walks, allowing 3 total runs (1 earned) to get the win.

Chris Saari recorded the loss for the Lions throwing his second complete game in just two days.

The Hawks fared much better facing the same starting pitcher two days in a row. Austin Boos (SO/Indianapolis, IN) led the way for the offense in game one with two hits one of those a double adding two runs scored and two RBI. Brian Colon-Rodriguez (SO/Carolina, PR), Alex Babusci (JR/Park Ridge, IL) and Darwin Argumedo (JR/Cartagena, Colombia) had the only other three hits of the game all singles.

Tech did the scoring damage with four runs in the bottom of the 1st inning responding to Finlandia's two first inning runs. Then three more runs in the 6th inning for the home team was all it would need for the victory.

In game 2 of the double header Illinois Institute of Technology had an extra inning walk off win 2-1 against Finlandia University. Starting pitcher Connor Wiebell went 4.0 innings allowing one earned run on 3 hits with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. Cory Winiecki (FR/Des Plaines, IL) came in and wens 3 innings not allowing a run and only surrendering 2 hits adding 4 strikeouts to just one walk. Winiecki faced one batter in the 8th inning then closer Michael Malfeo (JR/Orland Park, IL) was called upon. Malfeo went 3.0 innings striking out 3 batters and the only runner allowed to reach base was the one free pass issued. "Malfeo (2-1) took us into extra innings pitching very well and the offense rewarded him with his second win on the mound." Added head coach Scott Marks.

Wesley Williams was charged the loss for the Lions after going 9.1 innings with 9 hits and 2 earned runs.

For the Hawks offense Austin Boos, Adam Samad (FR/Alsip, IL) and Sam Pung (SO/Ludington, MI) all had two hits on the day. IIT scores a lone run in the home side of the 6th inning and then the winning run in the last of the 10th. Alex Babusci had the RBI ground out to the shortstop in the 6th. As for the winning run the rally was started by a James Tarala (FR/Crown Point, IN) walk to lead off the half inning. Tarala then advanced to second base on a wild pitch followed by Bill Cronin (JR/Orland Park, IL) sacrifice bunting Tarala to third base for out number one. Adam Samad stepped into the batter's box and ripped a line drive single to center field to score the walk off win for Illinois Tech.

The Hawks are now 7-7 overall record and will be facing Holy Cross College in South Bend, IN Monday, April 7th.
