Once Tech took the lead in the home half of the second inning and never looked back to captured a blowout 10-3 win in seven innings at Kino Sports Complex. Illinois Institute of Technology scored four runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Adam Samad (FR/Alsip, IL), an RBI single by Brian Colon-Rodriguez (SO/Carolina, PR), an RBI single by Bill Cronin (JR/Orland Park, IL), and an RBI single by Ryan Fitzpatrick (JR/Chicago, IL). On the day Brian Colon-Rodriguez was on fire going 4-4 and tallied up a total of four RBIs.
Elliot Chibe (FR/Palos Park, IL) got his first career start as he pitched two shutout innings but fellow Freshmen James Tarala (FR/Crown Point, IN) (1-1) recorded the win for the Hawks in relief. He struck out five, walked two, and surrendered four hits with one earned run.
IIT was really firing at the plate where all but one starter recorded at least one hit. Austin Boos (SO/Indianapolis, IN) and Michael Malfeo (JR/Orland Park, IL) both hit their way on twice while Bill Cronin had three hits.
Chris James took the loss for Carroll College. He allowed eight runs in 4 2/3 innings, walked two and struck out three.
