Hammond, IN – Tech fell in straight sets against national vote getters Trinity Christian College in match one on Saturday (9-25, 16-25, 18-25). Then the ladies tasted the sweetness of victory against a second Purdue team in as many days in the night cap with straight sets against Purdue University-Calumet (26-24, 25-13, 25-15).
Against TCC five Hawks did the scoring led by Taylor Duman with 7 kills, 3 digs and 3 solo blocks. Roma Mirutenko and Rebecca Wilson both scored 6 kills apiece. Adriane Walther finished with 3 kills and recorded all of the teams 22 assists.
In the win against PUC eight different Hawks put points away for the win and two of the ladies in double digits. Brittany Mead dug a team high 15 balls and Cassie Hansen added 9 digs and 3 assists of her own. Adriane Walther stepped in for 35 of team 39 assists, 3 kills, and 8 digs. Kate Kendall led the way with 11 kills and also added 4 digs. Taylor Duman marked one block, one dig with 10 kills. Michelle Tadlock put together 8 kills and one block for the Hawks.
The Hawks are now 10-18 on the season with three games remaining on the schedule. Next up will be Trinity International University.
