This Friday, November 1, 2013, Illinois Tech opens up their 2013-2014 campaign against North Central College. The meet begins at 5:00pm at Ecko Pool in Keating Sports Center. This meet will also serve as the Men's & Women's Swimming & Diving Program's fall community service project. The Scarlet Hawks are teaming with the Saint James Wabash food pantry to collect toothpaste for local Chicago neighborhoods. The team, starting October 28, 2013, will set up and volunteer their time at drop boxes throughout campus and residence halls. There will be a main drop box the day of the swim meet for all visitors to donate. Below you will find more information about Saint James Wabash. Please help the team and our community!
Who is Saint James Wabash?
Saint James Catholic Church is a vibrant parish located on the near South side of Chicago. The parish reflects the diversity of the surrounding neighborhoods. We are involved in the life of our community through the outreach of our Food Pantry, the care we show for our seniors and shut-ins, and the campus ministry provide to the surrounding colleges. Saint James is a place where all are welcome to come deepen their relationship with God and one another!
What is the Saint James Food Pantry?
The Saint James Food Pantry is essential to the area because it is the largest food pantry in the 60616 zip code and the only food pantry in zip code 60605. We do not restrict our services based on income or religious affiliation. Clients are served solely on whether or not they reside in the 60616 or 60605 zip codes. High unemployment levels and the increasing scarcity of affordable housing produce a greater need for the services Saint James Food Pantry provides than ever before.
