Chicago, IL – The Illinois Tech Scarlet Hawks fell 4-0 to Judson University at Stuart Field on Saturday afternoon. The visitors found the net through four different goal scorers in the four-goal victory over the hosts. Despite the result, IIT's EJ Yang provided a bright spot for the home side making 14 saves including 2 penalty stops in what could have been a far worse score-line for the men in white.
Guilherme Galego grabbed the first score for Judson inside 12 minutes. Tommy Gasienica had arguably the best chance of the half for the Hawks but his first time effort from 15 yards sailed high of the crossbar. The Hawks managed to hold the score line to 1-0 despite numerous chances created by the visiting Eagles.
The second half began disastrously for the Hawks after a handball brought about a penalty for the Judson Eagles. However EJ Yang came to the rescue for Tech, providing a strong one handed palm to deny Judson a second goal of the afternoon. The save appeared to inspire the Hawks into life with the home side pressing forward in an unrelenting 10 minutes of soccer seeing numerous chances being created. However Judson's Santiago Munoz broke free in the box and doubled the visitors' advantage in the 69th minute. Another added by Jason Mok's free kick made a 3rd for the Eagles and Reilly Good rounded out the scoring for the visitors.
For the Scarlet Hawks, it was their 5th defeat of the season, bringing them back to a 5-5-3 record. It was also the first game this season in which they have failed to find the back of the net. IIT has a quick turnaround going into Tuesday night's 7 pm match against Trinity International University. The match is also Senior Night for the Hawks who will be honoring players Jorge Salas-Moreno, Nordine Amlaiky and Robert Rixer before the game.
