Goshen, IN - The Illinois Tech women's soccer team earned a 1-0 decision over Rochester College in the Maple Leaf Classic hosted by Goshen College on Friday night. Tech came out strong dominating possession and out-shooting the Warriors 8-1 in the 1st half.
Kristen Barrett tucked home what proved to be the game-winner in the 14th minute of the match. The goal was well put together with excellent build-up out of the back. Anida Phetchanpheng began the attack from the center-back position and found Kiara Soto who layed the ball off to Adrianna Maron. Maron then picked out Barrett with a great diagonal ball at the top of the box. Barrett was able to take a touch past the rushing keeper and slot it away.
The Hawks had plenty of clear chances to put the game out of reach but goalkeeper Cheyanne Daniels was able to deny those opportunities. In fending off a late push by the Warriors to equalize, Illinois Tech held on for the 1-0 win.
Roxanne Myers made 4 saves on the day for her first shutout of the year. The Scarlet Hawks improve to 1-3 on the season.
