Lindenwood is coming off of a 4th place finish at the 2008 NAIA national championship and the Scarlet Hawk men knew it would take a good meet to beat them. Coach Bond's request was answered as the Hawks won both relays and had 6 different swimmers touch first in 6 of 9 individual swimming events. The 400 Medley Relay team of Joe Taylor, Jay Park, Dale Cuffe and Andrew Mehr started the meet off with a win. Cuffe then came back to win the 200 Free. He was followed by the trio of Kyle Pinsonneault, Taylor and Mark Callan for a 1-2-3 sweep in the 50 Free. Not to be outdone by their teammates, Kalman Varga led Joe Muchna and Kieji Halloway to a 1-2-3 sweep of the 400 IM. Halloway and Mehr touched first in the 200 Fly and 100 Free respectively. Park was first to the wall in the 200 Breaststroke before the foursome of Taylor, Pinsonneault, Callan and Cuffe swam to a come from behind victory in the 400 Free Relay to finish the meet.
The team added 6 new national cuts and now has qualifiers in every swimming event except for the 1650 Free and the 200 IM. Next week the team travels to Dobuque, IA on Friday for a dual meet with Loras College.
