KANSAS CITY, MO. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2013 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes for Track & Field. In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status. Illinois Tech's Women's Track & Field team had three of its athletes earning the honor this Spring. Senior runner Kira Vincent from Carlsbad, New Mexico was honored, after also receiving the same honor this past Fall while competing on the Cross Country team. Junior Sara Glade, from Sleepy Hollow, Illinois also earned the honor for the 2nd time this academic year. Track & Field Senior Alexandria Songer from St. Louis, Missouri was awarded as a 2013 Scholar-Athlete as well. This is a great honor for all of these students as well as for our Institution. These student-athletes are continuing the IIT tradition of excellence in the classroom as well as in their sports. Congratulations to Kira, Sara, and Alexandria.
