IIT Baseball suffered a sound defeat against Arizona Christian at the Tucson Invitational. On the losing end of a 15-0 score, the Hawks faltered both offensively and on the mound, in an atypical performance for the team.
Senior Kevin Glennon gave the best offensive performance of the day, going 1-for-1 with a single, a sacrifice bunt and was hit by a pitch. Ryan Fitzimmons, Bill Cronin and Sam Pung each recorded a single, rounding out the Hawks batting numbers for the day.
Pitcher Jack Kosar started on the mound for two innings, giving up 9 earned runs on 10 hits and 2 walks. Conner Wiebell entered the game in relief, striking out 2 and allowing 4 earned runs on 5 hits, 2 walks, 1 hit batsman over 3 innings. Jesus Sanchez finished off the game for the Hawks, striking out 1 and giving up 2 earned runs on 2 hits, 1 walk and 1 hit batsman.
Though the Hawks weren't at the top of their game, the defense performed well, yielding no errors. The team looks forward to their last day of the Invitational, facing St. Mary's University of Minnesota in a doubleheader on Friday, March 8.
