This game was later forfeited by Indiana University Northwest after it was determined they had played an ineligible player.

The Lady Hawks Women's Basketball team opened up their season with a loss to Indiana University Northeast, 57-49.

IIT expected to see positive change this season with four new incoming players: Marta Murillo, Jessica Najarian, Claudia Garcia, and Valerie Zulevic.  However, the Hawks started nervously, and ended the first half with a score of 19-30. They shot six of eighteen from the field, and six of thirteen from the line. Shavonne Diamond had the Hawks lone three pointer in the first half.

The Hawks picked up the play in the second half, making 10 of 25 from the field and 10 of 18 from the free throw line. The Hawks outscored Indiana University Northeast 30 to 27. Jackie Pushckar led the Hawks in scoring with 11 points, and also led the team in assists.  Lisa Reed dominated the boards with 10 total rebounds and also had 2 blocks defensively.  Shavonne Diamond stepped up on the defensive end and had 3 steals. The Hawks second half run unfortunately wasn't enough to win the game.

The Lady Hawks return to action, away to Judson University, next Wednesday at 7pm.
