Eric Gaff led all scorers with 27 points including 17 in the first half to lead Grace College (1-0) over Illinois Tech (0-2) on Wednesday evening.  Two other players for Grace reached double figures, David Swanson with 17 and Michael Weinhorst with 13.  The story of the game was the shooting of the Lancers who connected on 54% of their shots overall, 50% on 3 pointers, and 84% on free throws.
 
The Scarlet Hawks of Illinois Tech were led in scoring for the second consecutive game by junior Rob Knapczyk with 18.  Knapczyk also tied for a team high in rebounds with 6.  Joining Knapczyk in double figures for the Hawks was freshman Kyle Corbin who scored 13 points in the first half and ended with 16.  Other contributors for the Hawks were freshman Andre Boney with 8 points and a team high 4 assists, freshman Mike Ricciardi with a team high 6 rebounds, and fellow freshman TJ Bevilacqua who came off the bench to connect on two three pointers for 6 points. 
 
The Scarlet Hawks get a bit of a break before playing again on November 15 in the opening round of the Midway Classic at the University of Chicago.  They will open with Kenyon College at 8:00pm on Saturday and the consolation and championship games will be on Sunday at 1:00pm and 5:00pm respectively.
