Milwaukee, Wis. - The Lady Scarlet Hawks captured a
3-0 win over Cardinal
in a frigid game on Wednesday night.
A mixture of the cold weather and the long
bus ride set the Illinois Tech women off to a slow start. IIT created very little offensively in the
first half except for a goal scored by Stephanie Salem played over to the top
by Captain Sara Wilde. The poor game got
worse when a Cardinal Stritch player was red carded fouling Grace Durbin. The
score was a mediocre 1-0 at halftime.
The IIT women looked to pick up their game
right away in the second half. Thirty seconds into the half, Lauren Walters
scored the second goal with an assist from Grace Durbin. Many more
opportunities were created for IIT, but only one more would go in the back of
the net: a Stephanie Salem cross that was finished by Mary McCabe. The game
ended at 3-0.
"It was a bad day all around," stated Coach
Peacock. "The bitter weather conditions, the change in fields, the injuries we
have, and the bus ride. It all just
seemed to go wrong today. I am not trying to make excuses it was just one of
those days. I'm just glad the game is
over and we got the right result."
