CHICAGO, IL - - A trio of second team selections were among six Illinois Tech volleyball student-athletes honored as the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Association announced their 2011 All-Conference teams.
Toping the list was senior Kayla Heller, sophomore Kate Kendall and junior Rebecca Bograd, collecting CCAC 2nd Team All-Conference honors.
Heller, started in all 123 sets this year, finished first among teammates in total blocks with 74 and second in kills with 314, accumulating a team high .278 attack percentage, good enough for seventh in the conference. This senior middle blocker, also lead the squad with 51 service aces. Heller also reached 1,000 kills this season, ending with a career 1,012 kills.
Kendall, last years CCAC Freshman of the Year, led the Hawks with 359 terminations, enough for ninth in conference. The outside hitter also tallied 249 digs, 31 service aces, and 21 blocks. Kendall also stands fourth all-time in Illinois Tech career kills accumulated 808 in just two seasons.
Bograd, ranks fifth among setters in the conference, finished the year with 1084 assists and 8.81 assist to set percentage. Compiled 237 digs and 47 total blocks on the year. Bograd also claims the Illinois Tech All-Time Assist Leader title after collecting a career 2,893 helpers in three seasons.
Along with the second team selections, sophomore libero Brittany Mead (architecture), sophomore defensive specialist Chrissy Korper (political science), junior middle blocker Samandy Fulgence(biomedical engineering), Bograd (mechanical engineering) and Kendall (political science) each earned CCAC All-Academic honors. To be selected, a student-athlete must be a junior or senior academic status and have a 3.25 grade point average or higher.
