SOUTH BEND, IN - Illinois Tech traveled to South Bend, Indiana for a showdown with the Crusaders of Holy Cross College. The Scarlet Hawks left with a 3-0 win and great position in the conference standings. The win extends Illinois Tech's impressive run of five consecutive unbeaten games in the CCAC (4-0-1).
Marit Tundal scored an unassisted goal in the 6th minute to open the scoring. Veronica Torres added a goal in the 12th minute to push the score to 2-0. In the 39th minute, Torres would feed Tundal with a nifty pass for the third and final goal of the afternoon.
Amy Arnhart collected two saves for the shutout. The Scarlet Hawks solidified their position as the 5th seed in the CCAC Tournament with a 5-3-1 conference mark. The 16 points (5 wins, 1 tie) is the most accumulated by the Scarlet Hawks in conference regular season play. Illinois Tech is now 8-8-1 overall for the season after a tough 0-4 start in non-conference matches.
The Scarlet Hawks host the visiting Eagles of Judson this Saturday, October 29th. The game marks the last CCAC regular season game before next week's conference tournament. Game time is 5 pm CST.
