CHICAGO, IL - It was a tale of two halves for the Scarlet Hawks as they came back from a two-goal deficit to defeat Calumet College 4-2 on Saturday. The win extends Illinois Tech's CCAC unbeaten streak to four games (3-0-1).
The Scarlet Hawks came out flat in the first half and were deservedly thrashed for their efforts.The Crimson Wave jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first off goals by Sandra Narvaez and Patty Diaz.
Illinois Tech's Marit Tundal woke up the team with a rebound goal in the 53rd minute. In the 64th minute, Tundal knotted the game at 2-2 with a header goal off a Diana Otero set piece from 30 yards.
Heather Bickerton scored the game winner off a Tundal assist in the 66th minute. Bickerton would return the favor with a nice cross to Tundal to finish the scoring in the 71st minute.
Tundal would finish the afternoon with the hat trick and an assist.
Jessica Carlson made three saves in goal as the Scarlet Hawks moved into 5th place in the CCAC with a 4-3-1 conference mark.
The Illinois Tech women travel to South Bend, Indiana for a conference match with Holy Cross College on Tuesday, October 25th at 3 pm CST.
