DEERFIELD, IL - 30-35 mile an hour wind, pouring rain, and Trinity International University stood in the way of the Illinois Tech women soccer team tonight. The Scarlet Hawks battled the elements and the Trojans to a 1-1 draw.
The Scarlet Hawks had never gotten a result against Trinity International in 6 previous meetings. The tie gives IIT a 3-3-1 conference mark and 10 points with 3 games remaining in the CCAC.
TIU broke a 0-0 deadlock in the 31st minute off a Diana Anderson goal. The goal by the Trojans broke a streak of 279 minutes with no goals allowed by the Illinois Tech defense. The Scarlet Hawks answered back in the 43rd minute with a one-time finish by Emily Tilton off a Veronica Torres cross. The score would remain 1-1 going into intermission.
Despite several good chances by both sides, neither team could find the winning goal.
Junior goalkeeper Amy Arnhart handled the 110 minutes between the pipes making two saves on the dreary and wet night.
