CHICAGO, IL - Illinois Tech Women's Soccer continued its week of firsts. The women won their first ever game versus St. Xavier on Wednesday and continued the trend on Saturday with a big win over nationally ranked Robert Morris 1-0. The victory was the programs first over a Top 20 team in school history.
It was the second conference win in a row for the Scarlet Hawks, who now sit in 6th place at 3-3 in the rugged Chicagoland Collegiate Conference.
The two teams shared possession in a scoreless first half with Robert Morris garnering the best chance to score.
Lauren Capuano broke the deadlock in the 70th minute when she tapped in service from Hailey Kunkel to give the Scarlet Hawks a lead they would not relinquish.
Junior goalkeeper Jessica Carlson made several key saves to preserve the shutout for the Scarlet Hawks
"The girls battled and played as a team for 90 minutes. This is a big win for the program," Head Coach Marc Colwell said.
The Scarlet Hawks travel to Deerfield on Wednesday for a 3:30 pm tilt versus Trinity International University.
