CHICAGO, IL - Illinois Tech recognized the contributions of their seven seniors that have made a major impact on the women's soccer team and the university during their 8-1 victory on Saturday;
Samantha Cosenza, a defender from Crawfordsville, Indiana, is a Mechanical Engineering Major with a 3.55 GPA that is on a full Camras academic scholarship. Sam was on the CCAC All-Academic Team last season. Her parents Tony and Cindy Cosenza joined her during half-time.
Kay Durbin is a four-year starter at midfield from Tulsa, Oklahoma, is a Business major with a specialization in Marketing. After she graduates in May 2012, Kay plans to work in Chicago or her hometown, Tulsa, Oklahoma in marketing and advertising. Kay was accompanied by her parents Mike and Katy.
Grace Durbin, also a Tulsa, Oklahoma native is a four-year starter at midfield for the Scarlet Hawks. Grace is a Business Major with a specialization in Finance. After she graduates in May 2012, Grace plans to work in her hometown, Tulsa Oklahoma as a financial analyst in the oil and gas industry. Grace was selected for the All-Academic Team in 2010-2011 for the CCAC Conference and has a 3.5 GPA. Her parents Mike and Kathy were with her on Saturday.
Noel Deis, an Electrical Engineering major with a 3.81 GPA from Corrales, New Mexico, is on a full Camras academic scholarship. Noel, a starting outside back for the Hawks, plans on attending graduate school at the University of Texas in Austin to purse a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering. Noel is on the Dean's List, NAIA Scholar Athlete, and a CCAC All-Academic Team member. Noel's parents, Dave and Joan made the trek from New Mexico to be with her for the festivities.
Amanda Smith, a defender from Memphis, Tennessee, will be back for a fifth season of soccer after surgery on her leg. She was accompanied by her mom Ruthie. Amanda is a Humanities Major with a 3.25 GPA that was named a CCAC All-Academic Team member.
Emily Tilton, a Biology/Pre-Med Major with a 3.65 GPA at IIT from Naperville, Illinois, was joined by her mom Tricia and brother Jack. Upon graduation, Emily will be commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army National Guard. She plans to go to Medical School. Emily is on the Dean's List, an NAIA Scholar Athlete and a CCAC All-Academic Team member.
Lauren Wissman is a four-year starter for the Hawks in the midfield and back from Kettering, Ohio. Her parents Mike and Carol Wissman stood with her during the half-time ceremony. Lauren is a 4th year Architecture major with a 3.36 GPA. She plans on studying in Paris for the spring 2012 semester. She prefers to stay and work in Chicago after graduation. Lauren has been a member of the CCAC academic team and on the Dean's List.
