Chicago, Ill. – Head coach Marc Colwell and the Illinois Tech women's soccer team welcome six incoming freshmen to the roster and open its 2011 slate at home against Grace University on Saturday, August 20th at 6:00 pm.
The Scarlet Hawks have 15 returners including seven seniors. Top scorer and All-CCAC performer Lauren Capuano also returns. Capuano, a junior from St. Charles, Missouri, led Illinois Tech with 10 goals last season.
Senior Emily Tilton (Naperville, Illinois) and junior Heather Bickerton (Blackburn, England) added four goals each in 2010 and should aid in the attack this season.
The Scarlet Hawks added six new players including internationals Marit Tundal (Sunndalsora, Norway), Andrea Curley (Dublin, Ireland), and Veronica Torres (Ontario, Canada). First year players Hailey Kunkel (Bedford, New Hampshire), Jacquelyn Ewald (Overland Park, Kansas), and Whitney Theisen (Houlton, Wisconsin) will also be in the mix for playing time.
The Scarlet Hawks will play an eight game non-conference tilt before commencing CCAC action on Tuesday, September 27th at Cardinal Stritch. Illinois Tech finished the 2010 season with an 8-10-1 (4-6-1 CCAC) record and will look to improve their conference standing this season.
