The Hawks defeat title rivals Saint Xavier 1-0 in dramatic overtime finish

Chicago, IL - With a passionate home crowd fully behind the team on Saturday night, the Hawks were finally able to find a way past a stubborn Saint Xavier defence in the first period of overtime to record a crucial top of the table win.

As expected the two teams, each entering the game with 100% conference records, went straight at each other from the very first whistle. The home team controlled the first period of play dictating the rhythm of the game but were unable to find a way past Ian Picket in the St Xavier goal.

The second half saw a more balanced affair with both teams trading few goal scoring chances in what was an extremely tight encounter that would again end scoreless.

With the score locked at 0-0 at the end of 90 minutes the game went into ‘golden goal' overtime. The Hawks came out and pushed for the goal that would win the game and the home team were finally rewarded in the 99^th minute when a Graeme Port corner was powered into the Saint Xavier net by junior forward Diego Dias.

The winning goal brought the home crowd to their feet and sent the Hawks players into wild celebrations. The 4^th straight conference win maintains the teams 100% conference record and sees the team enter Tuesday's away encounter with Olivet firmly atop the CCAC table.

The Hawks now move to a perfect 4-0-0 conference record (8-3-0 overall).
