CHICAGO, IL - The Illinois Tech women's soccer team lost 4-1 to visiting St. Ambrose
University on Wednesday. Illinois Tech
is now 3-1 on the season.
The Scarlet Hawks
surrendered a goal just 1 minute into the contest and could never fully recover
in the loss. St. Ambrose led 1-0 at the half with the Hawks looking for an
equalizer in the second half. The tally didn't come soon enough as St. Ambrose
made it 2-0 in the 52nd minute.
Junior Emily Tilton (Naperville, IL) drew the
Hawks within one with a goal in the 54th minute off an assist from
senior Megan Meeke (Elmhurst,
IL). St. Ambrose answered back on
a header goal off a corner in the 63rd minute to stop any ideas of a
comeback. The Queen Bees would add another goal in the 78th minute
for the 4-1 decision.
The Scarlet Hawks held
a 12-11 shot advantage for the game. Amy Arnhart had 3 saves in 68 minutes of
work and Jessica Carlson completed the game in goal.
The Scarlet Hawks travel
to the St. Louis
area this weekend for two games. Game one pits the Hawks versus #10 ranked McKendree University on Saturday at 3 pm. On
Sunday, Illinois Tech faces Lindenwood
University at 1pm in St. Charles, Missouri.
