






Deerfield, IL - The Illinois Tech men's soccer team claimed an important win on the road against the Trojans of Trinity International University on Tuesday afternoon.
It was the Hawks' leading scorer Liam Barrett who took centre stage in the contest as he stepped up to score an amazing five goals to help secure the win for the traveling side.
The first of Barrett's goals came in the 29th minute before two quick fire goals lifted the Trojans into the lead. Before half time, however, Barrett struck again to send the Hawks into the break with the score tied at 2-2.
After the break the Hawks came out firing with two more from the impressive Barrett and a second collegiate goal from Junior midfielder Jake Carmichael, before another strike for the home team pulling the score back to 5-3. The scoring was completed when Barrett scored his fifth with 21 minutes left on the clock, with the game ending 6-3 in favor of Illinois Tech.
The Hawks advance to 8-7 (4-3 CCAC) and host Judson University on Saturday at Stuart Field. Kick of time is 2pm.
