The Hawks entertain again with a high scoring 8-0 win against Northland Baptist
Chicago, IL - After two comfortable home victories over Viterbo University and Doane College, the Hawks added a third consecutive win on Saturday with a commanding performance against Northland Baptist.
The Hawks opened the flood gates early on when freshman midfielder Alan Coates jinked his way around three players before dispatching the ball into the corner of the net to score the first goal of the game after only 3 minutes of play.
1-0 soon became 2-0 as freshman forward Diego Dias tapped home a rebound to increase the lead before Daniel Aronberg finished off a fine mazy dribble to make it 3-0 on the half hour mark.
The 39th minute saw Rob Ritchie-Smith score what was to be the first of a scintillating 5 minute hat trick as he latched onto a cross field ball from sophomore defender Aaran McEneff before smashing the ball into the back of the net, to score his first of the game. Two minutes later he scored his second before completing his treble in the 44th minute, when he again raced on to a fantastic cross field ball from Aaran McEneff before beating the keeper for a third consecutive time.
With the Hawks in complete control and leading 7-0 at the half time break the team made a number of changes to freshen things up for the second half. With the game all but over however the Hawks standard dropped as they concentrated more on keeping possession of the ball than to adding to their 7-0 score line.
One goal was scored before the end of play however as Diego Dias scored a delightful effort chipping the Northland goalkeeper from nearly 30 yards out to complete his own hat trick.
After three consecutive home games the Hawks are back on their travels on Wednesday night as they face a tough away trip to the University of Springfield Illinois.
