Joliet, IL - The Illinois Tech Men's soccer team produced a dismal display to lose its first game in conference play since 2007.
The Hawks were unable to adapt to the poor playing conditions and produced little threat to the Saints' goal despite large periods of possession.
The first half produced little quality as both teams competed in a midfield battle, with a few blocked shots the most the Hawks could manage.
The second half started better for the visitors with the Saints goal coming under fire on a number of occasions, bringing a few fine saves from the home ‘keeper.
It was the home team who broke the deadlock, however, when they pounced on the break to open the scoring. As the Hawks pushed in search of an equalizer, the Saints scored again making the score 2-0 with five minutes left on the clock.
The team falls to 5-5 (1-1 CCAC) and travels to St. Xavier University on Tuesday 6th October.
