Monday, Septemeber 7, the Scarlet Hawks traveled to Mount Pleasant, Iowa to
contest against Iowa Weslyan College. The Hawks struggled to get the ball in
the back of the net, but were happy to come back to Chicago with a 1-0 win.
game began with many goal-scoring opportunities for the Hawks. IIT kept
possession in the opponent's half of the field but had no luck getting points
on the board. After 43 minutes of competing, forward Megan Meeke scored great
goal followed by a victorious celebration. Freshman, Jessica Roberts found
Meeke at the top of the 18 with a cross. Meeke had a brilliant first touch and
shot the ball into the top left corner of Weslyan's goal.
were a total of thirty fouls called by the referee during the course of the
game. The second half of the match became very aggressive and chaotic. The ball
was in the air for a significant amount of the half and fouls were being called
constantly. IIT had more shots and more corners than their opponent, but
Weslyan was more aggressive and was first to the ball the majority of the
Weslyan awarded "Player of the Game" to Jessica Roberts. The IIT Scarlet Hawks
traveled back to Chicago with a season record of 4-2.
