






Chicago, IL - The Lady Scarlet Hawks came out looking strong Wednesday night, winning their first conference game 4-0 against Cardinal Stritch University.
From the beginning of the game, Illinois Tech had taken control and created many early scoring opportunities. Within the sixth minute of the game, Senior Mary McCabe was able to put one in the back of the net assisted by sophomore Grace Durbin with a pass from the right side of the field. The Lady Hawks kept the pressure up and scored again in the ninth minute. Senior Erica Delgado got around Cardinal Stritch defense from the left side of the field and was able to get off an excellent shot into the upper right corner. With twenty-six minutes left to go in the first half, Delgado crossed the ball into the box and Mary McCabe headed the ball into the back of the net making it her second goal of the night. The Lady Hawks finished the half strong, keeping the score at 3-0.
Early in the second half, Sophomore Kay Durbin stole the ball from the last defender in the 6 yard box and passed the ball into the lower left corner making the score 4-0. Illinois Tech kept the intensity up making many substitutions in the second half and did not give up any goals.
The Lady Hawks have a great start to conference play and have confidence going into their homecoming match on Saturday against Holy Cross.
