Hawks Come Up Just Short

JOLIET, IL - Game two of the Saturday double header started with St. Francis taking a one run lead in the second inning. Illinois Tech was unable to get on the board until the fourth inning when Andy Kungis (Palos Heights, IL) homered to very deep center field.

The game did not remain tied for long though as St. Francis scored six runs on six hits and an error in the bottom of the fourth inning. St. Francis held onto the six run lead until the last inning. After a leadoff walk by, the Hawks had 3 consecutive pinch hit hits by Reid Matsumoto (Aiea, HI), Eddie Morales (Chicago, IL), and Lorne Turrentine (Chicago, IL). The Hawks threatened but just didn't have enough time. Despite scoring 4 runs in the last inning, Illinois Tech came up just short losing the game 7-5. The loss ended the Hawks 6-game winning streak. James Dodgen (Flagstaff, AZ) and Thomas Hotz (Cedar Rapids, IA) combined for 7 innings letting up 3 earned runs with 4 strikeouts. The Hawks will finish the weekend series at home tomorrow starting at 12:00.
