





Hawks Take Game 1 of Double Header
DEERFIELD, IL - The Scarlet Hawks traveled to Deerfield, IL Saturday morning to complete their weekend series with the Trojans of Trinity International. Trinity took and early 3 run lead in the third inning.
The Hawks were not able to score until the sixth inning despite having bases loaded twice throughout the game. Brian Glennon (Darien, IL) singled in Bill O'Toole (Evergreen Park, IL) to get the Hawks on the board. Going into the seventh inning, the Scarlet Hawks trailed the Trojans 3-1. With one out in the inning Illinois Tech was able to score twice tying the game at 3 on a 2 RBI double by Bill O'Toole. After going into extra innings, the Scarlet Hawks were able to score 2 more runs on a RBI double by Andy Kungis (Palos Heights, IL) and a sacrifice fly by Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL). Offensive leaders for the Hawks were Dustin Reznicek (Willowbrook, IL) who went 3 for 4 and Brian Glennon who went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Branden Schombert (Lockridge, IL) started the game for Illinois Tech going 5 innings giving up only 5 hits. Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL) came in relief throwing 3 hitless innings striking out 4 of the 9 batters faced. With the win the Hawks now improve to a 15-20 overall record. Illinois Tech will finish up the series later on this afternoon.
