Schombert Throws Shutout!

CHICAGO, IL - Game 1 of the cold Saturday double header was a pitching dual to say the least.

The score remained tied at 0 until the bottom half of the fifth inning when third baseman Brian Sklena (Skokie, IL) sacrificed in Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL) giving the Hawks a one run lead. That was enough for Junior Branden Schombert (Lockridge, IA) who threw a complete game shutout only giving up 4 hits, while striking out 4. With the win the Scarlet Hawks are now 9-13 overall with a 4-3 record in CCAC play. The Hawks will now look for the series sweep in game two of the double dip later this afternoon.
