Hawks Come up Just Short

CHICAGO, IL - After taking game 1 in the first game of the double header, the Scarlet Hawks battled in game 2. Saint Xavier was able to take a 1-0 lead in the top half of the second inning.


As the rival Cougars took a 4-0 lead into the last inning. In the bottom of the seventh inning after a double by Kyle Guglielmo (Castroville, CA), Andrew Kungis (Palos Heights, IL) hit a 2-run homerun to deep left field bringing the score to 4-2. The Hawks were able to bring the tying run to the plate but just ran out of time. With the loss the Hawks are now 2-3 in conference play. Pitchers Luis Montoya (Chicago, IL), Branden Schombert (Lockridge, IA), James Dodgen (Flagstaff, AZ), and Nick Wise (Mendota, IL) combined to only giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs. The Hawks will now look ahead to taking on Trinity Christina this Friday in Palos Heights at 3:30, before returning home Saturday for a double header.
