





Men's Baseball Loses Tough One
COSTA MESA, CA - The Men's Baseball Team traveled to Costa Mesa Wednesday in their last game before coming home to start CCAC play. After Vanguard University jumped out to a third inning 2 run lead, the Hawks came right back in the top half of the fourth inning tying the game up on a single by Nick Wise (Mendota, IL) scoring Thomas Hotz (Cedar Rapids, IA) and Kyle Guglielmo (Castroville, CA).
After the Vanguard scored a run in the bottom half of the fourth inning, the Hawks again tied the game in the top half of the fifth inning on an RBI double by Thomas Hotz. The game remained tied until the bottom of the ninth inning where Vanguard scored the winning run on a single to left field. The Hawks were led offensively by Thomas Hotz going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored as well as Brian Glennon (Darien, IL) who went 2 for 4. James Dodgen (Flagstaff, AZ) started the game for the Hawks going 3 innings striking out 2 and relinquishing 2 earned runs. Thomas Hotz threw 3 innings striking out 2 and letting up 1 earned run. Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL) finished the game throwing 2 1/3 innings giving up 1 earned run. The Scarlet Hawks will come home to begin conference play with Friday with a game against rival Olivet Nazarene at 3:30 pm.
