Men's Baseball Take Game 1 vs. Hannibal-LaGrange

HANNIBAL, MO - The Scarlet Hawks traveled to Missouri Friday morning for a noon double header against the Trojans of Hannibal Lagrange. The Hawks took an early lead in the top half of the second inning on an RBI single by Andrew Kungis (Palos Heights, IL).


The Hawks continued putting pressure on the Trojans as they compiled 7 hits with only 3 strikeouts. They were led by Dustin Reznicek (Willowbrook, IL) going 2 for 4 scoring 2 runs and Andrew Kungis who went 3 for 4 with 3 RBI's. In the fifth inning, Illinois Tech pushed across 2 more runs on a Thomas Hotz (Cedar Rapids, IA) single scoring Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL) and Dustin Reznicek. After a 2 run sixth inning for Hannibal-LaGrange, the Hawks struck back in the top half of the seventh with 2 runs of their own.

Branden Schombert (Lockridge, IA) had yet another strong performance getting his first win of the year. Schombert threw a complete game striking out 4 with no walks. The Hawks were able to come out with a win in game 1 with a score of 5 - 3. They will pick back up this afternoon with game 2.
