Men's Baseball Loses 4 - 2
MAYFIELD, KY - The Scarlet Hawks spent most of game two fighting back while trailing. In the bottom of the second inning after 2 costly fielding errors Illinois Tech trailed by 2 runs.
It was not until the top of the 6th inning that the Scarlet Hawks were able to put a run on the board as Brian Glennon (Darien, IL) singled in left fielder Andy Kungis (Palos Heights, IL). Going into the top of the 7th inning the Hawks trailed by a score of 4 - 1. Senior Dustin Reznicek (Willowbrook, IL) scored on Jesse Stepniewski's (Skokie, IL) RBI single to center. The Scarlet Hawks were able to load the bases with two outs but unable to get any more runs as they lost the game 4 - 2. Freshman Luis Montoya (Chicago, IL) pitched 4 and 2/3 innings not giving up an earned run and striking out 3. Sean Irish (St. Luis, MO) came in relief going 1 and 1/3 innings striking out 1. The fielding errors proved to be the difference maker in Saturday's game 2. The Scarlet Hawks will resume play next weekend where they are set to square off with Hannibal-LaGrange in another 4 game series in Hannibal, MO.
