







Men's Baseball Loses to Mid-Continent
MAYFIELD, KY - If nothing else the weather Saturday in Kentucky was an indicator on how the games would go for the Scarlet Hawks Baseball team. With the temperature under 30 degrees and snow flurries offense was a struggle for both teams.
The Hawks fell behind early in the 1st inning on a sacrifice fly. The Scarlet Hawks were able to tie the game back up in the top of the second on a solo-homerun by sophomore Bill O'Toole (Evergreen Park, IL). In the top of the 5th, Illinois Tech was able to tie the game at 2 on an RBI single by Thomas Hotz (Cedar Rapids, IA). Mid-Continent was able to come back in the bottom half of the inning putting up 2 runs. Despite the Hawks threatening in the top of the 7th inning with two runners in scoring position, Mid-Continent held onto the 4-2. Junior Patrick O'Brien (Niles, IL) threw a complete game only giving up 5 hits and striking out 6 batters. The Hawks will conclude the 4 game series later on today.
