Men's Baseball Gets First Win of the Season

MAYFIELD, KY - The Men's Baseball team traveled to Mayfield, KY for a 4 game series against Mid-Continent University. In game 1 of the Saturday double header, the Hawks came out swinging. In the top of the first inning with two outs, Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL) singled to left.

He was followed by a 2-run home run by Kyle Guglielmo (Castroville, CA). The top of the second inning started with a solo-homerun by left fielder Andy Kungis (Palos Heights, IL). The Hawks added another run in the third with the second homerun by Guglielmo. The Cougars were able to tie the game up at 4 in the bottom of the sixth inning where the score stayed until the top of the 8^th inning. In the top of the 8^th, the Hawks were able to push 2 more runs across resulting in the 6 - 4 victory. Branden Schombert (Lockridge, IA) had is second straight strong performance of the year going 6 innings and only relinquishing 2 earned runs. Jesse Stepniewski (Skokie, IL) contributed 2 innings not giving up a run, with a strikeout as he received the win.
